Howard Carney has been salsa dancing for nearly thirty years. He explained his personal involvement in the Kansas City salsa scene: as a dancer, teacher, DJ, promoter, and podcast host. He also discusses the stigmas and difficulties inside and outside the Kansas City salsa scene. After his motorcycle accident over five years ago, he has been slowly building up his strength to return to salsa dancing. In the meantime, he continues to promote salsa dancing and salsa music on his podcast, websites, and social media platforms.
